"I'm Proud of You"

New Book in the Church Library (that can be borrowed)
The book “I’m Proud of You, My Friendship with Fred Rogers” was recently donated by Dr. Paul Darnell. The author met Mr. Rogers (of the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood TV show fame and a Presbyterian minister) as part of a work assignment to write an article about Mr. Rogers.  The deep friendship that the two developed and enjoyed spanned throughout the author’s life challenges of understanding his father, marital difficulties, depression, his writing career, death of the author’s brother from cancer and grief, through to Mr. Rogers’ death.   The emails, phone calls and encouraging words from Mr. Rogers during the author’s brother’s illness, prompted the author to write in his journal “This is like walking through this stuff with Jesus himself.”  Mr. Rogers’ encouraging and wise words can be found in the book, including why Mr. Fred Rogers closed his emails to the author with “IPOY, Fred”.    (IPOY- I’m Proud of You)
